Curling League in Saskatchewan
Throughout Saskatchewan, you’ll discover a healthy variety of local sports clubs and teams. While the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League might draw the most attention, it’s the curling and hockey clubs locals truly enjoy. Cities like Saskatoon, Yorkton, and Moose Jaw feature an array of hockey leagues – all from the youth levels to semi-pro.
Curling is one of Canada’s most popular sports, with clubs and leagues spread across the provinces. In Saskatchewan, be sure to check out the Estevan Curling Club when touring Estevan, while Regina is home to three, distinct clubs: the Caledonian – known as the Callie Curling Club – the Tartan Curling Club, and the Highland Curling Club.
Hockey rages with popularity throughout the province as well, with teams like the Regina Capitals and the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League shredding up the ice. Smaller clubs like the Humboldt Broncos, and the Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League also make their mark on the hockey landscape.
Head to the Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw and watch the Warriors battle for the ice, or visit the Credit Union iPlex and watch the Swift Current Broncos play for the win. Don’t miss a trip to the Art Hauser Centre, home of the Prince Albert Raiders, in Prince Albert.
While curling clubs and hockey teams certainly draw a large amount of support, other sports like baseball, football, and basketball have increased in visibility.
Saskatchewan Baseball oversees much of the youth-level baseball in the province, while the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets play in the Western Major Baseball League. And be sure to visit Jubilee Park where the Yorkton Cardinals play home games. Football fans in Saskatchewan plenty to spectate as well. In Regina, fans head out the Mosiac Stadium at Taylor Field and cheer on the Regina Thunder of the Canadian Junior Football League.
