Hit the Slopes in Saskatchewan

Experience Outdoor Saskatchewan

Across the province, Saskatchewan offers wide-ranging outdoor thrills. From the hiking and biking locations in the summer months, to the ice fishing and skiing in the winter – make the most of your next visit to Saskatchewan

As you embark on a spring or summer trek through Saskatchewan, keep an eye on some of these premier outdoor activities.

At Pasquia Regional Park, one of the premier hiking destinations in the province, the Andy Jamault Trail is a great place to spend an afternoon. With four unique interpretive trails, you'll find excellent views of the Carrot River. Make the drive east from Prince Albert and enjoy a full day of hiking through Pasquia Park.

Just south of Saskatoon, enjoy a day under the sun at the Blackstrap Provincial Park Trails. With a full 5km of trails to explore, Blackstrap proves to be one of the most desirable hiking destinations in Saskatchewan. Closer to Regina and Moose Jaw, the Buffalo Pound Provincial Park Trails yield exceptional hiking.

Golf Courses

Bring your clubs along for the ride this summer and play as much golf as you can. In Swift Current, be sure to book a tee time at the Elmwood Golf Club – it's a full 18 holes and a good challenge. Swift Current is also home to the Lac Pelletier R.P.G.C executive course

If your summer travels have you in Regina, you can't miss a chance to play 18 holes at the John A. Thompson Golf Course – it's one one of the premier public courses in the province. Other Regina courses include the Regina Golf Club, and the Sherwood Forest Country Club

Be sure to visit Prince Albert this spring or summer. You'll want to get your swings in and try for the course record at Kachur's Golf Club

A few other things…

At nearly 2,300 acres in size, Wascana Centre Park is an ideal destination for families visiting Regina during summer. You can fish and boat on Wascana Lake, hiking the trails, or spend an afternoon at the Waterfowl Park, one of the main attractions within.

In Saskatoon, be sure to explore the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo. Ideal for families or anyone who loves animals, this park and zoo yields exceptional fun any time during the spring or summer. Don't miss the 1913 Forestry Farm House, and the Heritage Rose Garden.

If you're heading through Yorkton, you can't miss Jubilee Park, home of the Yorkton Cardinals of Western Major League Baseball.

Enjoy a trip into Saskatchewan this fall or winter and experience some premier outdoor fun.

Ice fishing with the family in SK

Once the winter hits in Saskatchewan, and the ground is blanketed in fresh powder, you'll want to try your hand at skiing. Whether you prefer cross-country, snowboarding, or downhill, you'll find it all in Saskatchewan.

Prince Albert National Park, along with Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, are two of the premier locations for those who choose cross-country skiing. You can't go wrong at Duck Mountain, either.

Near Big River, check out the Ski Timber Ridge. With six runs, the longest of which is 800 meters, Ski Timber Ridge is ideal for downhill and snowboarding enthusiasts.

Northwest of Saskatoon, check out the Table Mountain Regional Park for more exceptional downhill and snowboarding areas. 11 runs, two quad chair, and two magic carpets make Table Mountain a real can't-miss.

Ice Fishing

Once your calendar hits mid to late December, the lakes and ponds around most of Saskatchewan are ideal for ice fishing. Invest in a high-quality auger, and don't forget to stock up on ice fishing line. There are close to 100,000 lakes in Saskatchewan, and you're bound to be near any one of them where you'll land hauls of northern pike, rainbow trout, arctic grayling, and walleye.

Enjoy a unique view of Saskatchewan as you cruise around nearly 10,000km of snowmobiling trails. Close to Waskesiu Lake, enjoy touring around along the Elk Ridge Resort Trails, and in Big River, don't miss out on a trek through the Big River ATV and Snowmobile Trails

If you're passing through or heading for Archerwill, the Archerwill Drift Riders Snowmobile Trails is a must. They have three different loops, all totally nearly 160km of well-groomed trails for you to snowmobile upon.
